2. Information We Collect

  • Account Information: Email address and authentication credentials when you create an account via Google, Apple, or email/password. If you sign in with Apple, you may elect to use Apple's private relay email service.
  • Profile Information: Captain name (angler alias), angler type, and optional biography. Profile information is visible to other users of the App.
  • Catch Data: Fish species, weight, length, quantity, photos, GPS coordinates, and notes that you voluntarily log. Catch data stored locally on your device remains private unless you choose to share it.

  • Feedback: Messages you submit through the in-app feedback feature.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Location Data: With your explicit permission, we access your device's GPS to provide location-based weather forecasts, fishing conditions, and proximity alerts. We do not track your location in the background. Location data is processed in real-time and is not stored on our servers unless you voluntarily share a catch with GPS coordinates.
  • Device Information: Device platform (iOS or Android), operating system version, app version, and push notification token.
  • Usage Data: Anonymized and aggregated data about how you use the App, including feature usage and session information.

2.3 Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect payment or financial information (payments are processed by Apple/Google)
  • We do not track your location when the App is not in active use

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and operate the App's core features, including personalized fishing forecasts, bite scores, weather conditions, and maps
  • Enable social features including sharing catches, following anglers, and participating in competitions
  • Deliver push notifications based on your preferences (bite windows, pressure changes, competition updates, daily forecasts)
  • Display your public profile and shared content to other users

  • Respond to feedback and support requests
  • Improve the App through aggregated, anonymized analytics
  • Enforce our Terms of Service and protect against fraud or abuse

4. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Public Content: Your captain name, angler type, and content you share to the social feed are visible to other App users
  • Service Providers: We use third-party services (listed in Section 5) that process data on our behalf to operate the App. These providers are bound by their own privacy policies and data protection obligations.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the Company, its users, or the public
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as part of the transaction

The App utilizes the following third-party services. Each service has its own privacy policy governing the use of your data:

  • Supabase: Authentication, database, and file storage (hosted on AWS infrastructure)
  • RevenueCat: In-app purchase verification and entitlement management
  • Expo Push Notifications: Delivery of push notifications to your device
  • Open-Meteo: Weather forecast and atmospheric data
  • NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration): Marine alerts, buoy data, and nautical chart overlays
  • USGS (United States Geological Survey): River flow rates and water temperature data
  • Apple / Google: Authentication (Sign in with Apple, Google OAuth) and payment processing

6. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure. We implement the following security measures:

  • Row-level security (RLS) database policies ensuring users can only access their own data
  • Industry-standard OAuth 2.0 authentication protocols
  • Encrypted data transmission via HTTPS/TLS
  • Secure cloud storage for uploaded photos with access-controlled URLs

Catch logs stored locally on your device (via AsyncStorage) are not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly choose to share them.

While we implement commercially reasonable security measures, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

7. Data Retention

  • Active Accounts: We retain your data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the App's services
  • Account Deletion: When you delete your account, all associated data (profile, catches, competition history, social posts, push tokens) is permanently and irreversibly removed from our servers
  • Competition Data: Competition catch photos are automatically removed after 30 days. Competition-related social feed posts are removed after 90 days.
  • Cancelled Events: Data associated with cancelled competitions is automatically purged after 30 days
  • Push Tokens: Push notification tokens are removed when you sign out or delete your account

8. Your Rights & Choices

  • Location Access: You may grant or revoke location permission at any time through your device's settings. The App will function with reduced capabilities without location access.

Users confirm their age during the onboarding process. If you are between 13 and 18 years of age, you may only use the App with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will promptly delete that information. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

10. International Users

The App is operated from the United States. If you access the App from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction. By using the App, you consent to such transfer, storage, and processing.

11. Changes to This Policy

We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or by posting the updated policy on this page with a revised "Effective Date."
